The Architecture of Anti-Fragile Systems
This Week
- Map one workflow in your organization against the progressive order stages: chaos → complexity → complicated → simple. Identify where the current process skips stages or gets stuck.
- Identify one agent or automated system that could be redesigned using the microservices principles above. Start with componentization: what is its single responsibility?
- Design one quality gate for an existing or planned intelligent system. What happens when the gate fails? Who is notified? What is the fallback?
- Run a failure mode analysis on one critical system. What happens when the primary agent or component fails? Is there graceful degradation, or is there collapse?
- Ask your architecture team: "Are we building tools that make work faster, or are we building systems that reorganize how work gets done?" The answer reveals your current paradigm.
The human and political dimension of transformation.
