Leading Through Hard Conversations

This Week

  1. Write your position on one of the six conversations. Include the strongest counterargument. If you cannot articulate it, you are not ready for the room.
  2. Translate one technical concern into business language. Practice with a peer who does not work in technology. If they do not understand, rewrite.
  3. Build or strengthen one calibration relationship. Reach out to a technology leader at another organization. Ask about their last hard conversation.
  4. Define your walk-away condition for one upcoming decision. Write it down. Share it with someone you trust.
  5. Schedule a follow-up for your last hard conversation before the memory degrades. Document what was decided and what signals you will watch.
